We've just released an updated version of Recon Live Chat with a handful of changes to make chat more reliable, and reduce the number of missed chats. Find out about the changes here ...
You’ve been telling us via Customer Support that there’s still some improvements we can make to live chat. A number of you gave us feedback that you keep missing the chat requests because you don’t always see them in time, and don’t manage to say ‘yes’ within the 90 second response window – resulting in a missed chat notification message.
To try and remedy this we’re changing the request/accept model. In common with other chat systems, we’re removing the wait to get an acceptance from the other chatter - so that a new chat window will now load immediately.
You’ll both then have 20 minutes to start chatting in the open window, before the window times-out. Or, if you’re not interested, simply click on the ‘x’ to close the window.
We’re also changing the ‘away’ indicator to show people as away only after an hour of inactivity within the message centre (it used to be 10 minutes). If you do anything with the message centre in that hour (read messages, check favourites, view last 50, etc.) the hour timer will reset and the system will still show you as available(unless you’ve changed the setting below.)
Lastly, for those of you that have told us that you prefer to message, rather than use live chat, we’ve added a ‘default chat status’ setting in Edit My Account - which can be set as unavailable. This determines your default chat status for EVERY subsequent log in, and you will be set as unavailable each time you log in until/unless you change it in the message centre (which will change it only for that login), or update the edit my account setting (which will will change the default for future logins).
To make it easier to adjust this setting, there’s now a link to the Edit My Account section in the message centre drop down options box.
