Mission Malawi 2025 Postponed to May 2026

Dear Members and Supporters,

It is with the deepest regret that we must inform you that the Mission Malawi 2025 Charity Challenge has been postponed until 2026.

The head of the Great Minds Bright Futures charity informed us of the decision to postpone the event a short time ago:

"We have been considering the weather conditions in Malawi. It's quite unpredictable, and our initial suggestion was to run the event in October 2025. But we have made the final decision that the return of Mission Malawi should be in May 2026.

Whilst this might be disappointing for some, we hope this is agreeable to most. The advantage is that we now have time for more fundraisers to sign up for the challenge. We now have more time to get fit. We have time to do even more fundraising!

Meanwhile, Great Minds Bright Futures continues to support 182 orphans in Dowa, Malawi across two centres with feeding and activities… We are about to add a further fifty children who live in Dzaleka - the refugee camp which is close by. Great Minds is growing brilliantly and making such an impact, and we hope that you continue to support our efforts.

Dave"

We, the 5 challengers from Team Recon: Philip, Chris, Antoin, Sam and Sebastian, are truly disheartened that we won't be doing the challenge this year.

Charitable giving has always been a key policy for the company, and we'd like to thank you for all the support you've given to our fundraising efforts.

So far, we've managed to raise:

• £970.39 - Recon London December 2024, 2nd-hand Gear Market

• €456.50 - Cash donations - Recon booth at the Folsom Europe 2024

• £340.00 - FWL2024 - 2nd-hand Gear Market profit

• £1,496.00 - GoFundMe - online donations

• £1,210.00 - GoFundMe - Individual Team Recon donations

• TBC - we've received a number of offline pledges, which are still coming in

We've also had members who are doctors and teachers, or work with other charities who've enquired as to how else they might be able to help, and this has been amazing.

We are forever thankful for the generosity and dedication of our members and we thank you for the support you've given to us over the years. But, we are still a long way from achieving our donation goals and will continue to fundraise and to train throughout the coming year.

We hope that even more of you will support our belief in this amazing charity, and supporting Great Minds Bright Futures.
