Palm Springs Leather Pride 2010 was a huge success. Saturday night’s centerpiece Mr. Palm Springs Leather Contest and Recon Victory Dark Dance drew over 850 attendees, causing the Fire Marshall to consider closing off the venue at one particularly crowded moment. Mr. Tool Shed Leather, the heavily tattooed home assessment specialist and chain bondage enthusiast Drew Kramer, earned the Mr. Palm Springs Leather title for 2011, while Phoenix’s DJ Doom kept a large, sexy fetish crowd on the dance floor until well after 2 am.
“The enthusiasm for this year’s event was simply overwhelming,” said Bill Spinney, Palm Springs Leather Order of the Desert President. “We had record crowds at all of our events and fantastic feedback from the attendees. It’s gratifying to know that our efforts to build on last year’s successes were so very well received.” Despite the addition of 100 seats, Friday night’s Formal Leather Dinner once again sold out. The new location and menu were both praised as outstanding. The evening’s other main event, the Tool Shed/Gear Leather Backlot Party saw its largest crowd ever—and the largest crowd of the weekend—with over 1800 in attendance.
Sunday’s Turning Up the Heat Pool Party/Barbecue and Elbow Grease Soaked Tee Shirt Contest drew another record crowd of over 325 people to the playful Helios Resort. The weekend’s closing event, the Tom of Finland Foundation Benefit Beer Bust at The Barracks, was packed and reached overflow capacity several times throughout the evening.
About Leather Pride:
Since back in the ‘90s, Palm Springs Leather Order of the Desert has invited Leatherfolk from around the world to gather in the Desert Oasis each November for a hot, sexy weekend celebration of Leather/Fetish fellowship and fun. Today, Palm Springs Leather Pride is one of the city’s most popular LGBT events and one of the largest, longest-running, and most successful Leather/Fetish Events in Southern California. This year’s event ran from November 11 - 14.
Leather Pride could not have taken place without the generous support of their sponsors, like Recon, who donated a record amount of funds to support this year’s activities. Palm Springs Leather Order of the Desert is profoundly grateful to such sponsors as:
